Yo Google Maps, Gimme a Spot?
Here’s one more feature on the form I mentioned the other day. While not mandatory, having the user enter a restaurant’s street address with their submission helps maintain a more precise set of mapping coordinates. Most people surely won’t know this bit of information, but they could mostly likely name the city. Initially, the user sees a big message next to the form:
As soon as the restaurant name, city, and state are entered, the map is told to perform a search and show the results so that the user can see if one of them is the restaurant they meant:
Some customization was needed to get this wired up, but most of the functionality is available with Google’s Local Search Control.
